According to a recent survey, Americans’ most common reason for leaving their jobs is toxic company culture.
Namely, toxic company culture can take many forms, but some commonalities include a lack of transparency, poor communication, and a general feeling of unease or unhappiness among employees.
What’s more, the survey’s findings show that the majority of the respondents (62%) left their jobs due to a “toxic company culture,” followed by “poor management“ (56%) and “lack of healthy work-life balance“ (49%).
In addition, there are a variety of other reasons that cause people to leave their jobs:
- They do not have the option to work remotely (43%)
- They are unhappy because of burnout (42%)
- They are not being allowed to have a flexible schedule (41%)
- They have limited advancement opportunities (37%)
- They do not have good benefits, such as health insurance and 401(k) benefits (31%)
- They have limited sick time and paid time off (27%)
- They didn’t want to work for a company due to the lack of mental health support (22%)
- They were worried about their job stability (21%)
- There was too much travel required for the position(19%)
- They do not feel that the company values diversity, equity, and inclusion (19%)
- They do not feel connected to the company’s mission (18%)
- They are concerned about the COVID-19 vaccine requirements (17%)
The findings reveal that for many Americans, money isn’t everything. Instead, they want to work for organizations with inclusive cultures, regardless of where they reside or whether they operate in-person, hybrid, or remotely.
