Does Uber take cash

Have you ever tried to get an Uber and realized that you only have a Benji on you? No doubt “does Uber take cash?” was probably the first thing that crossed your mind. And while it’s true that most people use their credit cards for Uber rides, you can also pay for your ride with real money.

Does UberTake Cash in 2022

Besides accepting credit cards as a payment method, Uber also accepts cash, Uber cash, and debit cards.

What Is Uber Cash?

This is the company’s method of paying for Uber rides and meal requests (Uber Eats). You can add it to your account from different sources, such as promotional credits, support adjustments, credit cards, and gift cards. All of these will appear in your app as a balance of Uber Cash.

For example, you can add gift card charges ($1,000 max) to your balance. Plus, there’s no limit to the number of cards that you can connect.

To add a gift card, simply enter the app, click on the “Wallet” icon and select “Add Funds.” Here you have to click on “Gift Card.” Now type in the gift code to check your balance.

How Do You Buy Uber Cash

You can do this via the Uber app:

  • To add funds to your wallet, select the menu icon in the upper left corner of your app and choose “Wallet“
  • Under “Wallet,” select “Add Funds“
  • Select the amount you would like to purchase and select your payment method
  • Tap “Purchase” to complete the transaction

How toYou Use Uber Cash

To use this payment method, you need to:

  • Enter the address of your destination on the home screen
  • Below the car selection, press “Payment“
  • Now turn on the Uber Cash option

How to Use Real Money for Uber Payments?

Paying for your Uber ride with real money is only available in specific locations. To see whether your region has this payment option, you need to check it in your Uber app.

  • Launch the app
  • Go to your “Wallet”
  • Select “Ride Profiles”
  • Go to the “Payment Method”
  • If paying with cash is available in your region, a “Cash” option will appear
  • You can also set this option as your default method of payment

In short, the answer to the question: “can I pay cash for Uber rides” is — yes, you can. However, if you want to pay for your ride with a C-note, you must set your payment method beforehand. Consequently, if your registered payment method is a credit card, but you want to pay for your ride with cash, you won’t be allowed to do so.

Once you’ve set cash as your preferred payment method, you’ll be able to pay your Uber driver directly in cash at the end of each ride. Just be sure to have the exact fare ready, as drivers do not carry change. And although not mandatory, you can also tip your driver.

Does Uber Eats Take Cash?

Like with Uber rides, you can also pay for Uber Eats deliveries with cash. To do this:

  • Open the Uber Eats app on your phone
  • Find a restaurant and order your food
  • Go to the “Payment Method” (at the bottom of the screen) and select “Cash“
  • Click on the “Place Order” icon to confirm the order
  • Once your order has been placed, your driver will collect the payment upon delivery

Can I pay for Uber with cash in all regions? Again, not all regions have this option.

In What Countries/Cities Does Uber Accept Cash?

At first, Uber allowed people to pay in cash only in countries such as Peru, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, and the Philippines, and cities, like Jeddah, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, and Manila, where credit cards weren’t a popular payment method.

That said, India was one of the first countries where Uber allowed cash payments, and now almost 65% of its payments are in cash. Brazil is another country with a lot of potential for cash payments — in fact, over 25% of rides are paid via paper money.

What states does Uber take cash in? You’ll have to open the app, go to your “Wallet“ and look for the “Cash” icon. If you don’t find it as an available payment option, it means your region doesn’t support paying with cash.

In that case, use other payment options (credit card, PayPal, etc.).

  • Prepaid debit card
  • Google Pay
  • Apple Pay
  • Venmo

Conclusion

In summary, yes — Uber does take cash as payment in some locations. However, it’s not always possible to pay with banknotes, and not all drivers accept cash payments.
